Stimulus Relief Talks Intensify As U.S. Economy’s Progress Begins to Stall
As the economy continues to struggle, talks intensify over a coronavirus relief package on Capitol Hill. While the summer saw a period of rapid economic growth, those numbers have since slowed down amid this latest surge of Covid-19. Today’s monthly report was expected to show 469,000 jobs added last month, however there were only 245,000 which is considerably less from October. Experts predict numbers will soon stall and eventually turn negative again. They’ve suggested the inaction by Congress could send the country into a recession. Negotiations over an economic stimulus package have left many in Congress severely divided for months. But as the situation begins to worsen, the nation’s top leaders may finally be closing in on a bill. A newly proposed $908 billion deal by a bipartisan group of lawmakers seems promising, however both sides admitted there’s still much to be done. There are also discussions to pass short-term relief bills in the meantime.
