Staffer Nearly Loses Arm in Animal Attack at ‘Tiger King’ Rescue
A staffer at Big Cat Rescue, made famous by Netflix’s hit show ‘Tiger King’, was seriously injured in a tiger attack. Emergency services were called yesterday to the sanctuary owned by one of the show’s stars, Carole Baskin. A volunteer of three years named Candy Couser reportedly stuck her hand into an enclosure during feeding time only to have her arm nearly torn off at the shoulder. Despite her serious injury, Couser is expected to survive. It’s believed during her ambulance ride, she requested the tiger not be harmed. The animal will at least have to spend 30 days in quarantine as a precaution. In an official statement, Baskin said it’s strictly against protocol to have anyone stick their arms into an enclosure. She said the tiger was acting normal and that Couser made a grave misjudgment in the moment. This attack comes the same week the House passed a bill spurred by the release of the popular documentary show. It would largely restrict most forms of big cat ownership in the U.S. with harsher penalties.
