Shootout Leaves Multiple U.S. Marshals Injured, One Suspect Dead
Multiple U.S. Marshals were injured during a shootout in New York City early this morning. Authorities responded to an area in the Bronx after reports of shots fired around 5:30. Upon arrival, they discovered at least two suspects. The two parties exchanged gunfire which led three agents to be hospitalized. They are expected to survive. The two suspects were also injured during the incident, one of which was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The second suspect, 35-year-old Andre Sterling, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sterling was reportedly wanted in connection to the shooting of a Massachusetts state trooper on November 20th. He was facing counts of armed assault with intent to murder, possession of a firearm, assault and battery with a firearm, larceny and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He also had two warrants out for identity fraud, A&B on a police officer, fail to stop for police and others. He was further wanted in Wyoming for drug charges.
