Dangerous, Destructive Wildfires in California Persist

Fires continue to devastate the west coast with the most recent blaze reported out of Orange County. The fast-moving bond fire that broke out late Wednesday night has now consumed at least 6,400 acres. Mandatory evacuations were ordered in several key areas near the Silverado Canyon where the fire is currently destroying much of the vegetation. A number of homes have also been damaged or completely ruined. Mandatory evacuations were ordered for 25,000 people. Those orders have since been partially lifted for some areas and nearly all roads have reopened. Officials report the fire is currently 10% contained. They also revealed of the 500 firefighters who responded, two were injured. Both were treated on scene and then hospitalized where their conditions remain unknown. Parts of southern California are now on alert as strong winds, a dry landscape, and hot temperatures once again threaten spread of the blazes across the state.
