Biden Will Ask Public to Wear Masks His First 100 Days in Office
Yesterday, President-elect Joe Biden revealed that he would ask the American public to wear masks for the first 100 days he’s in office. This came shortly after the U.S. reported it’s worst day since the pandemic began, with record-breaking numbers in new daily infections, hospitalizations and even deaths. California’s Governor Gavin Newsom has also just announced new regional stay-at-home orders that will likely effect millions. It will be mandated in areas where hospitals drop below a 15% capacity rate. Currently none of the five regions have met that threshold but it’s predicted at this rate, at least four will, by mid-December. Biden believes by strongly urging citizens to wear masks in his first 100 days in office, that we could see a significant reduction in cases. He’s currently projected to take over as president during the most tumultuous time the U.S. has experienced since FDR during the great depression. But even with Biden’s request, there’s concerns many will choose not to comply with CDC guidelines.
