Dr. Scott Atlas Resigns as President’s Special Advisor on the Pandemic
Last night it was revealed that Dr. Scott Atlas has resigned from his post as a top member of the White House’s coronavirus task force. In his official letter yesterday, Atlas praised the Trump Administration for their work and wished Biden’s incoming team the best. He served as the president’s special adviser on the pandemic since his appointment in August. But as a special government employee, he was only charged with working a 130-day detail which was technically set to expire this week. While some consider his resignation a natural progression, others believe it was controversy that forced him out. Dr. Atlas has come out publicly downplaying the virus and undermining safety recommendations. He has also criticized state restrictions or lockdowns and was further accused of spreading dangerous misinformation about the pandemic. Many consider his resignation to be welcome news. Despite his departure, the White House Covid task force still remains intact and is moving forward steadily.
