CDC Meets Today to Discuss National Covid-19 Distribution Plan
The CDC will officially meet today to discuss a Covid-19 vaccine distribution plan and here’s what you need to know. Presently, there are almost 14 million infections reported in the U.S. with the national death toll reaching 275,000. Records were broken once more yesterday after over 96,000 people were hospitalized. Many cities across several states are reaching capacity and becoming overwhelmed as a result. While health experts are still predicting worsening conditions, there is some hope on the horizon in the form of a vaccine. The FDA intends to make a decision on Pfizer and BioNTech’s emergency use request for their vaccine on December 10th. It’s believed Moderna’s will be decided December 17th. But prior to that, the CDC is meeting today to discuss distribution plans. Experts have predicted every American could be vaccinated by June, starting with the most essential and crucial populations which includes healthcare workers, the elderly, and others most at risk. However, this tentative date all depends on how many vaccines are approved and how quickly they can be manufactured and distributed.
