Thanksgiving Week Travel Has Health Experts Worried About Covid-19 Surge
Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning Thanksgiving travel could exacerbate an already devastating surge of Covid-19 cases in the
U.S. For the 27th consecutive day, new daily infections have surpassed 100,000. Of the 13 million cases, 4 million were reported in November alone. Hospitalizations also once again hit their record-breaking high after over 93,000 were reported yesterday, beating the previous record in just one day. Over 266,000 people have died and it’s been predicted that the national death toll could double in just ten days as deaths near 4,000 a day. The current rate of Covid-19 infections is being compared to “a natural disaster occurring in all 50 states at the same time” and Thanksgiving celebrations are likely to make the situation worse. On any given day last week, up to a million Americans traveled. Dr. Deborah Birx has said anyone who did so must assume they have contracted the virus. She urged them to get tested and to stay away from at-risk family members and friends.
