S.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Assaulted at Sobriety Checkpoint

A South Caorlina Highway Patrol trooper was assaulted at sobriety checkpoint early yesterday morning. The incident took place around 1 a.m. on Old Hodges Road near Mount Olive Church Road in Abbeville where troopers had set up a routine sobriety checkpoint. They were attempting to arrest driver Donald Outz who was resisting before assaulting the trooper. Outz was finally apprehended and the unnamed trooper was hospitalized and treated for injuries.
