South Carolina Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy in Terrorist Plot
A South Carolina man has plead guilty to conspiring in terrorist plots against the U.S. 34-year-old Kristopher Matthews admitted that he shared bomb-making information with 22-year-old Jaylyn Molina of Texas. Since 2019, the two have had intentions of committing attacks in the U.S. and abroad on behalf of ISIS. Plans included shooting up sites like the White House, Trump Tower in New York and the New York Stock Exchange. However, it’s believed Matthews advised against targeting shopping malls “where innocent children are.” The two also reportedly discussed promoting ISIS through the internet. A grand jury indicted both men in October each with one count of conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and one count of providing said material. Matthews’ sentence will be announced in March. He faces up to 20 years. Molina faces up to 40, if convicted.
