Jeffrey Toobin Fired Over “Embarrassingly Stupid Mistake” on a Zoom Call
Following an internal investigation, writer and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin was fired from the New Yorker. Earlier last month, 60-year-old Toobin was suspended after exposing himself while on a zoom call with work colleagues. He thought he had adjusted his camera settings so no one could see or hear him during the teleconference and has referred to the whole incident as an “embarrassingly stupid mistake”. The full investigation into his actions do appear to support his claims, but did little to save Toobin’s job. He broke the news of his termination on Twitter, adding he will miss his co-workers. It’s unclear if CNN will choose to do the same, since Toobin worked as a legal analyst for them. He has requested “some time to deal with a personal issue” but, is still technically employed. In an email to employees, the company said this is very serious and are “committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels respected and upholds our standards of conduct.”
