Coronavirus Hospitalizations Soar Across the U.S.
State and local leaders are taking action in response to the dangerous rise in covid-19 infection rates being seen nationally. Almost every single state is trending in the wrong direction and in just ten days we surpassed another one million confirmed cases for a total of now over 10.4 million and almost 242,000 deaths. The U.S. is also once again smashing global records after reporting over 148,000 new cases yesterday and almost 62,000 hospitalizations. As a result, New York and New Jersey’s governors have announced new curfews on indoor bars and restaurants. New York has also limited gatherings in private residences to ten people or less. Ohio’s governor issued similar threats for their businesses if mask mandates are not taken seriously. In El Paso, Texas, one of the hardest hit communities in the nation, a convention center has been turned into a covid-19 field hospital and they’re using refrigerated trucks to store the dead as they run out of capacity. Massachusetts, Michigan and several other states are also experiencing similar issues. Furthermore, North Dakota’s governor is now allowing for health care workers who have tested positive for the coronavirus but are asymptomatic, to keep working because they’re out of options.
