Technical Issues Leads Horry County Election Officials to Rescan Absentee Ballots

The Horry County Registration & Elections office was forced to rescan all their absentee ballots after a “data transfer issue”. The apparent technical issue led to a delay in the count of anywhere between 15,000 to 20,000 votes from mail-in absentee ballots. Before they had finished counting all the ballots, they realized the error and had to go back and do it all again. This will not impact voters’ absentee ballots in any way. The board is expected to certify the official election results today.
