Tensions Rise Across Nation as Official Election Winner Remains Undecided
As votes continue to be counted in 5 states, tensions are rising nationwide. The National Guard was activated in Portland last night after widespread violence broke out across the city. Rioters smashed storefront windows of local businesses and at least 11 people were arrested. Demonstrations in New York City also led to at least 50 arrests as protesters entered into heated confrontations with police. Authorities also confiscated several weapons including knives, a stun gun, and explosives. Minneapolis didn’t see violence, but traffic was closed down on a major highway after protesters crowded the roads. Meanwhile, supporters of President Trump gathered outside vote counting offices in Arizona and Michigan. They swarmed the buildings, demanding in Michigan they stop the count, and in Arizona they shouted continue the count. It’s reported some of those people were also armed. Officials and volunteers continued their work tallying the legal and valid votes with police standing guard.
