Second-Highest Record for Daily Covid-19 Cases Reported on Election Day

As the nation turned it’s attention towards the election yesterday, the coronavirus continued to rage. Yesterday saw the second-highest record number of new Covid-19 cases reported with over 91,000 infections confirmed. At least 5 states all reported a record number of new cases yesterday as well. The country’s five highest days of coronavirus cases have now all been recorded since October 29th with the nationwide 7-day average now standing at about 86,000. That’s more than double of September’s numbers. Hospitalizations and deaths are also largely up. So far, over 232,000 Americans have died with more than 9.47 million diagnosed. Now health experts are saying pregnant women who contract the virus are higher risk of severe illness or even death. Only five states are trending in the right direction but at least 36 states are reporting more new cases this week when compared to last week. Basic public health measures like masks and social distancing continue to be stressed and many remain hopeful we could possibly turn things around.
