Horry County Schools Board Purchase Land for Possible New Elementary School
In a unanimous vote yesterday, the Horry County School board voted in favor of purchasing an additional 35 acres of property. With the land, they hope to build a new elementary school. The land was bought in the Carolina Forest area which has been thriving over the last few years and therefore needs another school. The board purchased the property for over $1.9 million. Unfortunately, construction is not expected to start for at least a few years but they wanted to take action sooner rather than later, so the funds for that project are already set aside. The board also revealed that starting in 2 weeks, plexiglass barriers will be installed in elementary schools.
