Horry County Officers Cleared Following Fatal Shooting in July
Two Horry County officers have been cleared following a fatal officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred July 8th along Amberwood Court. 49-year-old Wade Phillips died after a shoot out with authorities. According to neighbors, Phillips was a patrolman, SWAT commander and detective in another state with more than 25 years of law enforcement experience. A judge recently ruled those officers involved acted within their rights, seeing as Phillips was “heavily inebriated”, armed, and made threats before firing at officers first.
