U.S. Reports Highest Single-Day Count of New Coronavirus Cases Worldwide
The U.S. saw almost 100,000 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, once again surpassing the highest single day count ever reported. The U.S. topped this record five times within the last 8 days and Friday’s number also beat the worldwide highest daily record, which was previously held by India since September. Also concerning is the fact that 31 states saw at least one record-breaking number of new cases in October. Fortunately, Saturday saw a significant drop but the fear, health experts say, is Halloween celebrations will lead to more massive spikes, which includes hospitalizations and deaths. Nationwide, over 9.1 million people have contracted coronavirus with the death toll reaching 230,000 over the weekend. Despite this, President Trump is still promising we’re rounding a corner. Tensions between him and top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci also continue to persist. It’s reported Fauci is no longer briefing the president on the pandemic. During a rally in Florida, the president also went so far as to hint he would fire Fauci sometime after the election.
