At Least Six Dead, Millions Without Power After Hurricane Zeta
The death toll following Hurricane Zeta has risen yet again to now six confirmed victims. The first death was reported in Louisiana after a 55-year-old man was electrocuted by a downed power line. 58-year-old Leslie Richardson’s death was also attributed to the storm. He drowned at a marina while trying to take a video of the waves and was overtaken by the surge. Two more people were killed in Georgia after a tree fell on their home while they were in bed. Another man in Alabama died in a similar way after a tree also fell on his house. The storm also caused severe damage to buildings, homes, cars, and more. Heavy flooding was also reported in some areas. More than 2.1 million customers across Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama and North Carolina were also without power yesterday morning. When zeta hit, Louisiana was still recovering from the damage caused by recent storms, including hurricanes Laura and Delta. Most people ordered to evacuate the area had already been evacuated from these previous storms.
