Hurricane Zeta Claims At Least Two Lives After Making Landfall

Hurricane Zeta turned deadly after it made landfall in Louisiana as a category two storm. At least two people have been killed, including a 55-year-old man who was electrocuted by a downed power line. In Mississippi, a second person’s body was found in a marina. Their cause of death has not been made available but it’s also considered to be storm-related. The death toll may rise after more than 1,500 National Guard members and over 5,000 linemen begin recovery efforts this morning. Zeta has since downgraded and now more than 32 million people are under tropical storm warnings. They’re still bracing for continued wind conditions, isolated tornadoes, heavy rain and possible flash flooding. A storm surge threat also remains in parts of Alabama. At least 1.9 million people are without power between Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi. There’s also been reports of significant damage done to buildings, homes, cars and more.
