Teen Hurt in Car Crash Sues Drunk Driver, Two Local Bars
The victim of a drunk driving incident from February is now suing the driver as well as two local bars. 34-year-old John Sangastiano was intoxicated and driving at speeds of up to 120 mph when he hit another vehicle containing PALM Charter student Jacob Welsh. Welsh suffered severe injuries to his head and neck, including a traumatic brain injury. At times his recovery outlook was grim but he eventually pulled through. Sangastiano was charged with felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury. Now Welsh is demanding actual, consequential and punitive damages from the driver, as well as the Wild Horse Saloon and Scores Sports Bar who served him that evening. The cost of the damages will be determined by a jury.
