Microphones Will be Muted During Portions of Final Presidential Debate

There’s now less than 48 hours until former Vice President Joe Biden and President Trump face off in their second and final presidential debate. In anticipation, the Commission on Presidential Debates has announced new changes to the event’s format. Most notably, they’ve decided to mute the candidates microphones during certain portions of the evening. It’s believed the decision was made unanimously after the first debate three weeks ago turned into the most chaotic and unprofessional one the U.S. has ever seen. The Commission stressed this is not a change to the official rules, but rather a tool to help uphold the ones the candidates have already agreed to. At this time it’s unclear what other changes may be implemented, including whether or not the candidates will be Covid tested prior to. Shortly after hearing the news, President Trump agreed to participate, however he believes it’s “very unfair”. He’s also unhappy with the topics chosen by Moderator Kristen Welker. In a letter to the Commission, the president’s campaign called for them to focus on foreign policy rather than the coronavirus, race, climate change, leadership and more.
