Bond Set for Suspect Who Assaulted Robeson County Officer Over Weekend
Bond was set for the man who assaulted a Robeson County officer this weekend. We’d like to warn you that the image we’re about to show may be disturbing to some viewers. 27-year-old Officer Michael Sales responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of Benton Court. It’s reported the suspect, Jamel Rogers, was wielding a gun and threatening to kill himself. While Sales was attempting to perform an arrest, Rogers assaulted him. Rogers was eventually taken into custody where a judge later set his bond at $500,000 for charges of assault on a government official and resisting arrest with more charges pending. Officer Sales has since been released from the hospital after being treated for a fractured nose and facial lacerations.
