Woman Made Multiple False Reports During Racially Charged Central Park Incident

New information has been revealed in connection to the racially charged Central Park incident that went viral in May. Amy Cooper, otherwise known as the ‘Central Park Karen’, was walking her dog when she was confronted by bird watching enthusiast Christian Cooper (no relation). While filming, Christian asked Amy to leash her dog, since it was required. Things quickly escalated when Amy called 911 to report “an African American man” was threatening her life. It’s now been revealed that she made a second call claiming Christian had also assaulted her.Amy was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third-degree, lost her job, and had her dog temporarily taken away. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has now also filed a misdemeanor charge against her. She didn’t enter a plea during her court appearance yesterday and is expected to return November 17th. Christian said of the event, “My focus has been and continues to be on fixing policing and addressing systemic racism like we saw in that incident.”
