Georgetown Co. Election Official Under Investigation for Stealing Campaign Signs

The Chairman of the Georgetown County Board of Elections has resigned after being accused of stealing and vandalizing political signs. The issue was initially brought to the attention of members from the County’s Republican and 7th Congressional GOP Parties when a man reported his President Trump campaign signs kept disappearing. After installing a trail camera, the unidentified man was surprised to discover the thieves were Chairman Dean Lyle Smith and his wife Rita. She was allegedly captured stealing and defacing the signs while Dean was seen driving the getaway car. It’s believed the Smiths have been charged with larceny and vandalism. Dean has also resigned from his position as the investigation continues.
