Johnson & Johnson Halts Covid-19 Vaccine Trials After Participant Falls Ill

Johnson & Johnson has now become the second pharmaceutical company to temporarily halt their Covid-19 vaccine trials. They announced the pause in their advanced clinical trials after a volunteer developed an ‘unexplained illness’. But they’ve declined to release the exact details of the patient’s condition, except to say that they’re currently undergoing thorough review by the company’s safety physicians, as well as an independent safety company. This is important for determining if the drug may be causing any seriously dangerous side effects or if it’s just a coincidence. Johnson & Johnson would like to remind the public that events such as these are common and expected for experimental trials. They’re currently in phase three of testing which involves around 60,000 participants. This halt is also similar to what we saw a few months ago with AstraZeneca who have since resumed testing following an investigation. Meanwhile, alarming rises in new Covid-19 numbers continue to be reported nationwide with Dr. Fauci urging Americans to take precautions or face a catastrophic winter.
