President Trump, Biden Form Separate Events After Second Debate Called Off

President Trump is refusing to participate in the second debate after the Commission on Presidential Debates announced it would be virtual. The decision was made in order to “protect the health and safety of all involved” in the event after the president tested positive for Covid-19. However, his administration claims he’s been negative for the last few days, making this move unnecessary. President Trump believes a virtual debate would be a “joke” and a “waste of his time” and almost immediately refused to participate. He has already scheduled a rally to take place that same night instead. Following the president’s decision, former Vice President Joe Biden has also gone ahead and scheduled his own televised town hall event for that night in which he will instead answer voter’s questions. It will be moderated by news anchor George Stephanopoulos and will not be affiliated with the Commission. The fate of a possible third debate now hangs in the balance. If all goes as planned, that will take place October 22nd.
