SC Supreme Court Unanimously Rejects Gov. McMaster’s ‘SAFE Grants Program’

The South Carolina Supreme Court has shot down Governor McMaster’s ‘SAFE Grants Program’. McMaster was attempting to reallocate approximately $32 million in funding from the CARES Act in order to supplement parent’s cost of tuition at private and parochial educational institutions. In a unanimous ruling, the court agreed McMaster’s proposal is prohibited by the South Carolina Constitution. However, the governor said he will still “request the court to reconsider this important decision.”
