President Trump Refuses to Participate in Now Virtual Second Debate
Breaking news this morning as the Commission on Presidential Debates announced next week’s event will be virtual. The second debate was initially scheduled for next Thursday on a stage in Miami but now the candidates will make their appearances from separate remote locations. President Trump’s contraction of Covid-19 is likely the main reason behind the move, seeing as next Thursday’s debate would take place less than two weeks after his release from Walter Reed hospital and could still potentially be contagious. The Commission said the debate will now more closely resemble “a town meeting” with C-SPAN’s Steve Scully still set to moderate. Both former Vice President Joe Biden and President Trump have made it clear they are ready and looking forward to debating again. And upon hearing the news, Biden immediately agreed. However, the president expressed his extreme disdain for the Commission’s decision, going so far as to declare he will not participate, saying “I am not going to do a virtual debate. I am not going to waste my time.”
