Witness Signature Requirement Reinstated for South Carolina Absentee Ballots
Yesterday, the Supreme Court reinstated South Carolina’s witness-signature requirement on absentee ballots. The decision was made during the first day of the court’s new term and at the request of the state’s Republican representatives. If you’re hearing this news but have already cast your ballot, do not worry because yours will still be counted. The court narrowly agreed that any ballots cast before their ruling was announced, and received within two days of said order, cannot be rejected for failing to comply with the witness requirement.
