SCOTUS Nomination May Have Been Covid-19 Super Spreader Event
While President Trump remains in the hospital, the timeline regarding when and where he caught Covid-19 also remains unclear. It was initially assumed he and the First Lady contracted the virus from advisor Hope Hicks. She began experiencing symptoms Wednesday and isolated herself aboard Air Force One with the president before testing positive on Thursday. However, White House Physician Sean Conley suggested on Saturday the president had been contagious since Wednesday or at the very least began experiencing symptoms then, meaning he caught the virus earlier. New information now reveals the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court was likely a super spreader event. Masks and social distancing were not observed and there were multiple gatherings held inside the White House after. At least 11 people in attendance have since tested positive including Chris Christie, Trump Campaign Manager Bill Stepien, Kellyanne Conway, and most recently Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. This new revelation raises many questions as to what precautions the president’s team were taking as well as how frequently he was actually being tested.
