Grand Jury Transcripts Released in Connection to Breonna Taylor’s Death

In an almost unprecedented move, the transcripts from the grand jury decision into the death of Breonna Taylor were finally released to the public. This was despite attempts by Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron to delay. He claimed his team needed at least a week to redact any personal information within the over 20 hours of recordings. In the end, a judge ordered the transcripts be turned over to the public and Cameron had only two days to edit the audio. It’s reported around 15 hours from the trial were released. While most of the recordings were pretty straight forward, there were still some concerns. This includes contradictions and inconsistencies between official statements. Particularly that of Kenneth Walker, Taylor’s boyfriend, and the officers who carried out the no-knock warrant. Another noteworthy detail is the fact that some juror questions went completely unanswered and that neither juror deliberations nor prosecutor recommendations were part of the release.
