Oregon Hostage Situation Ends in Three Dead, Including Child and Suspect
We have more information for you in regards to the deadly hostage situation that occurred in Salem, Oregon earlier this week. When Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene Monday afternoon, they found 34-year-old Jose Jesus Lopez-Tinoco forcibly holding two adults and two children inside a residence. Deputies attempted to establish communication with Lopez-Tinoco and deescalate the situation. However, they were unable to stop him from firing off shots. That’s when authorities forced their way inside and one deputy returned fire. They discovered three deceased, one of which was an 11-year-old boy and another who was a 24-year-old woman. The suspect also appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The other adult hostage was hospitalized in serious condition. The final victim, a 13-year-old boy, was rescued from the home and uninjured. It’s still unclear what Lopez-Tinoco’s motivations were or his connection to the numerous victims.
