Former Officer Pleads Not Guilty in Connection to Breonna Taylor Charges

The former Louisville Metro Officer indicted in connection to Breonna Taylor’s death has plead not guilty. Brett Hankison faces three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. He’s not directly charged with Taylor’s death since it’s unclear if any bullets he fired struck her. He’s instead accused of shooting recklessly into a neighboring apartment and endangering the lives of a man, pregnant woman, and child who were there at the time of the incident. He was arraigned on a 15,000 dollar bond. A judge also ordered the seizure of Hankison’s firearms. His pretrial hearing is scheduled for late October. It was just announced by the Kentucky Attorney General that the grand jury trial transcripts will be released to the public tomorrow. He previously refused, despite demands from Taylor’s family and the public. It wasn’t until a judge ordered the presentation be included in the court case file that he agreed. Meanwhile, the body camera footage of 45 different officers from the night of the raid has been released to the public and it allegedly shows the officers violating LMPD procedures following the shooting.
