Mitch McConnell Promises “Orderly” Transition of Power Despite President Trump’s Claims
Following his visit to Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s public viewing, President Trump re-solidified his previous statement concerning peaceful transition of power. The president is still wary over the integrity of November’s election. He once again reiterated unproven claims that mail-in voting will be more susceptible to fraud while speaking with reporters outside the White House yesterday. He added he cannot promise to leave quietly, should the results favor former Vice President Joe Biden. It’s strongly believed if the president loses, he’ll contest the results all the way to the Supreme Court. Many have suggested his determination to name a new judge before November, effectively turning the Supreme Court into a right-leaning majority, is driven by fears he will have to do just that. Now Republicans are on the defense, rejecting the president’s statements. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell promised “there will be an orderly transition just as there has been every four years since 1792.”
