Explosion at Oklahoma Family’s Home kills One Teenager, Injures Three Others

An explosion at an Oklahoma residence early this morning killed at least one person and left three of others injured. Around 7 a.m., a man plugged his coffee pot into an outlet and was electrocuted before the massive explosion went off. Occupants of the home included the man, his wife and their two kids. While the deceased victim’s identity has not been revealed, it was confirmed she was in fact one of the children and a mere teenager. The father suffered series injuries. It’s reported he was hit so hard by the blast, it nearly “blew the clothes off him.” His wife and other child sustained burns. They’re all currently being treated at a hospital. The cause of the explosion was determined to be the result of an illegal propane log lighter inside a fireplace that was not up to code. Log lighters are extremely dangerous because “they do not have a pilot safety shut off.” Fire officials reported something as small as turning on a light switch could’ve sparked it. The home was almost entirely destroyed in the blast.
