Over 100 Law Clerks Stand Guard Over Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Casket During Public Viewing

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg now lies in repose at the top of the Supreme Court steps today. She was also honored in a private ceremony in the Great Hall beforehand. More than 100 of her clerks accompanied the casket on its journey up the court house steps and will now stand guard over it during the public viewing. It’s reported one of her dying wishes was to be replaced after the election, however President Trump appears to be continuing full steam ahead with his intentions to nominate a new justice. While he has yet to finalize his decision, which won’t be announced until 5 p.m. on Saturday, it seems the front runner is Judge Amy Coney Barrett. She was initially considered to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy who was eventually succeeded by Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Barrett is a Christian conservative federal appellate judge and Notre Dame law professor. She previously worked for Justice Anton Scalia as a law clerk. She is also a mother to seven children.
