Local Police Departments Host Seminars, Training Sessions on Implicit Bias
Local police departments are taking strides to improve and educate officers and other employees in the wake of national protests. The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office held a training session focused on implicit bias yesterday morning. Issues of racial stereotyping, prejudice and intolerance were addressed with employees forced to acknowledge their importance. They also discussed better ways in which they could respond through numerous training exercises. Furthermore, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce announced its hosting a virtual seminar focused on similar topics. It will be hosted by Bob Wallace with Webster University Myrtle Beach beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. The program is open to the public.
