Presidential Nominees Honor 9/11 Victims Today by Visiting Memorials
Both President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden are expected to visit the Shanksville, Pennsylvania 9/11 memorial today. Shanksville was the crash site of United Airlines flight 93. 40 passengers and crew members lost their lives after their aircraft was hijacked by Al Qaeda terrorists. But before the plane could make it’s way to it’s intended destination of Washington D.C., those aboard were able to overthrow the hijackers and crash into an open filed. President Trump and First Lady Melania visited the memorial this morning where the president gave a speech honoring all those whose lives were lost. Meanwhile, Biden and his wife Jill visited the 9/11 memorial in New York City. They’re also expected to make an appearance at the Shanksville memorial sometime this afternoon. Biden has confirmed he will not speak about anything else other than the attack and has further paused all advertising for the day. This year people are commemorating as best they can during the pandemic. A large crowd of people gathered in New York City to observe moment of silence this morning. Most social distanced and wore masks.
