City of Florence to Announce Building of New Sports Complex

In some lighter news, the city of Florence is set to officially announce the creation of a new sports complex! It will be built behind the Florence Tennis Center and include a full-sized track and field facility with spectator seating, baseball fields for youth programs, and two large parking lots. A 1,600-seat baseball stadium will also be created. It’s expected to feature concession and restroom buildings, batting cages and locker rooms. The total complex will take up nearly 60 acres and is projected to cost around $15 million dollars. Construction will begin next week and end in 2021. The official complex grand opening is predicted for the spring of 2022.
