Universities in All 50 States Now Reporting Covid-19 Outbreaks
The global coronavirus death toll surpassed 900,000 people as of last night, according to John Hopkins University. They’re also estimating almost 28 million people worldwide have contracted the virus. In the U.S., cases are reaching 6.4 million with the death toll closing in on 191,000 people. The CDC is still predicting we’ll hit the gruesome 200,000 mark by September 26th. This all comes as universities in all 50 states are now seeing clusters of outbreaks. Many of those have been linked to Greek life social gatherings or parties. As of now, there are 40,000 reported cases between students, faculty and staff but health officials believe this number may be significantly higher due to slow reporting from colleges. Among those with the highest number of cases are the University of South Carolina and East Carolina University. Both have over 1,000.
