Trick-or-Treating, More Banned in Los Angeles County This Halloween

Trick-or-treating will be banned in Los Angeles County this Halloween. The news comes from the county’s Department of Public Health who said door-to-door trick-or-treating makes it difficult to maintain social distancing, especially in more populous neighborhoods. The new guidance further bans gatherings or parties with non-household members, even outdoors, as well as “trunk or treating” events where candy is distributed from the trunk of a person’s vehicle. Also prohibited this year are carnivals, festivals, live entertainment, and haunted house attractions. The department has suggested if people really wish to celebrate, they may organize online parties or car parades, with participants remaining inside their vehicles at all times. This comes a week after Mayor Eric Garcetti confirmed hospitalization numbers in the area were declining and had hit their lowest level since April. But he stressed not to confuse this with the infection rate and warned the worst is not yet behind them.
