Oregon Sees Dozens of Arrests as Protests Continue Over 100 Consecutive Days

Unrest continued to be witnessed in Oregon as dozens of arrests were made this weekend. During the 100th night of protests in Portland, over 50 people were detained. The demonstrations started out peacefully but quickly escalated after dumpsters, garbage cans, and wooden pallets were set on fire. Some people in the crowd also threw “multiple fire bombs” and other projectiles at officers. It’s reported a community member was set on fire as a result. They are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital for their injuries. Fortunately, there was no gun violence but this incident was declared a riot by law enforcement who then performed the arrests. Then yesterday in Salem, a city not too far from Portland, at least two more people were detained. This occurred following another clash between President Trump supporters and counter-protesters. The two groups reportedly fired off paint balls and other items at each other. The two arrested were charged with assault.
