Postmaster General to be Subpoenaed by a Key House Committee

In an escalation of the USPS controversy, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy will be subpoenaed by a Key House committee tomorrow. They claim DeJoy “has been withholding documents from Congress” regarding the controversial changes recently made to the United States Postal Service that attributed to nationwide mail delays. Last week, DeJoy testified the changes he implemented to save money did in fact lead to a “deterioration in service” but, despite being able to provide accurate data at the time, he added they were bouncing-back. He also denied all allegations his actions were in attempt to aid President Trump in the upcoming election. According to the committee, the only document they received two days following the deadline was a letter from DeJoy saying “I trust my August 24th testimony clarified any outstanding questions you had.” In response to the subpoena, the service stated they will comply with all their legal obligations as best they can but are surprised by the request.
