Confirmed U.S. Coronavirus Cases Officially Surpass 6 Million

The U.S. officially hit 6 million confirmed Covid-19 cases yesterday, just seven months since the outbreak began. The nationwide death toll has now surpassed 183,000 people with the CDC predicting that number will reach 200,000 by September 19th. The U.S. also remains to be the worst impacted country globally with Brazil and India trailing behind at almost 4 million cases each. But it’s not all grim news as health experts say we’re doing better now compared to a month ago. That’s because daily cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have slowly begun to decline. At the same time, we’re receiving even more good news as a third U.S. based company entered phase 3 vaccine trials. The UK also announced they have a candidate. It may seem like it’s taking a painfully long time, however it’s a necessary process. Some previous vaccines released prematurely were contaminated with other viruses, caused worse outbreaks, or death and led to widespread public distrust.
