Intelligence on Election Security Issues to be Delivered in Writing Now

As President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden resume their campaign trails this week, there continues to be concerns over the integrity of the election. Especially in light of a recent announcement where it was revealed that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence will no longer deliver in-person briefings on election security issues and foreign interference. Instead they will provide the updates in writing to the House and Senate Select Committees on Intelligence as well as other associated agencies. ODNI officials claim they made the decision out of concern over “leaks” that have occurred during previous briefings over the last few weeks. However, the new changes mean Congress will have less of an opportunity to question officials from the agency over the potential issues. Those critical of the change, including Democrats, believe this is a move made by the Trump Administration to downplay threats to the election.
