Protest in Louisville, KY for Breonna Taylor Results in At Least 68 Arrests
Similarly, at least 68 people were arrested at a protest in Louisville, Kentucky over the death of Breonna Taylor yesterday. The EMT and aspiring nurse was inside her home when three plain-clothed officers entered on a no-knock narcotics warrant in the middle of the night. Taylor’s boyfriend fired off a warning shot at them, thinking they were intruders, and they returned with multiple rounds. Taylor was struck 8 times and killed. That was over 160 days ago and since then, only one of the officers involved has been fired and he is appealing to be reinstated. Many are growing concerned her case may be forgotten, so Tuesday’s demonstration was created to remind the public. It was set to be the largest peaceful protest organized for Taylor. However, police eventually deemed the gathering dangerous after protesters began crossing intersections. Those who didn’t stay on the sidewalk when asked to were arrested. The dozens of people taken into custody will be charged with obstructing the roadway and disorderly conduct.
