Melania Trump Delivers Memorable, Eloquent Speech During Second Night of RNC
During the second night of the Republican National Convention, all eyes were on Melania Trump as she delivered her highly anticipated speech. In the past, the first lady faced criticism for potentially plagiarizing Michelle Obama during a speech in 2016. This time around Melania made sure to be more heavily involved in the writing process. Many have referred to her speech as realistic, compassionate, and eloquent. Most memorable was when she acknowledged the current health crisis, expressing sympathy for the victims of Covid-19 and gratitude for first responders. She also appealed to female voters and humanized her husband. Other noteworthy moments from last night include the president’s unusual ceremonies. He pardoned a bank robber named Jon Ponder, who has since founded Hope for Prisoners which is a nonprofit that helps inmates transition back upon release. The president also naturalized 5 new U.S. citizens all originally from India, Lebanon and Sudan.
