Jerry Falwell Jr. Withdraws Resignation Amid Rumors of Wife’s Scandalous Affair
Evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr. has reportedly withdrawn his resignation as president of Liberty University. The 58-year-old’s announcement comes two weeks after he was placed on administrative leave by the school’s board. He faced heavy criticism after posting a suggestive photo of himself drinking with his wife’s assistant. Falwell said the photo was a joke and claims he was put on leave due to “pressure from self-righteous people.” However, the school felt pressured to cut ties with Falwell after rumors surfaced that his wife had an affair. A man named Giancarlo Granda claims he was a 20-year-old pool boy when he started having an affair with Becki Falwell that lasted 8 years. He further revealed Jerry not only knew about it but enjoyed “watching”. While Jerry confirmed the inappropriate relationship with his wife occurred, he says the rest of Granda’s claims are false and that he was blackmailing them. Early yesterday, Falwell submitted his resignation, but later asked his lawyers not to tender the letter.
