Violent Protests Erupt in Wisconsin Following Police-Involved Shooting
Extreme unrest has broken out in Wisconsin after an officer shot a black man in the back multiple times “in broad daylight”. Officers from the Kenosha Police Department were responding to a domestic violence call yesterday afternoon. In the graphic footage captured by a witness that has since gone viral, Jacob Blake, who appears to be unarmed, walked from the passenger side of a vehicle to the driver’s side. He is being escorted by officers with guns drawn. When Blake opened the door, an officer grabbed him by his shirt and fired off at least seven shots.It’s reported Blake’s children were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Blake was critically injured but survived. He has since undergone surgery and is now in stable condition. Meanwhile, citizens took to the streets to protest. It’s reported multiple fires were set and patrol cars damaged. It’s also believed an officer was knocked unconscious after being hit with a brick. The city issued a county-wide emergency curfew through this morning due to the violence. In his official statement, Governor Tony Evers promised there would be accountability.
